Hi there. I am Jackie, one of the co-owners of Kamileon Lodges. We are a family run business offering home from home deluxe lodge accommodation on a family site close to the North Cornwall Coast, near Padstow.
Since I had my own family, we also returned to Treyarnon Bay and owned a caravan for several years enabling our children to grow up with the same experiences as I had. However, a caravan has a shelf life and when our caravan needed replacing we looked into purchasing something more long term and permanent and hence found ourselves a new site and home on Atlantic Bays Holiday Park, St Merryn, Nr Padstow, Cornwall. We upgraded to a chalet (6 berth) sited on a lovely flat site 3 miles from all the beautiful beaches and with the peaceful Cornish countryside outside our windows to wake up to.
The North Cornwall Coastline is renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches – with seven bays for seven days; you could visit a different one each day of your holiday! The fishing port of Padstow provides you with many shopping opportunities in addition to more recreational activities. Why not catch the ferry across to Rock for a ramble or you could hire a bike to cycle along the Camel Trail. The trail now runs through to Bodmin with many opportunities along the way to refuel. Also in Padstow is Rick Stein Seafood School. Here you can pre book either a day or week long cookery course in his purpose built kitchen – there is even a chance that Rick himself will pop in and oversee your culinary training.
Along the coast to the west is Watergate Bay. Here you can book into Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant for a meal or take part in some more physical activities at the Extreme Academy Watersports Centre. Heading south towards St Austell you will find the Eden Project. During the summer months many different events take place for the whole family to enjoy adding to the value of a day out at the Biomes. The site is ideally situated for travelling slightly further afield with the Tate Gallery at St Ives or even a day trip to the Isles of Scilly – either by air from Newquay Airport of by sea from Penzance.
For the Children there is the Lappa Valley Steam Railway, Dairyland, Holywell Bay, Old McDonald’s Farm, Camel Creek Adventure Park or, if you fancy a bit of speed, why not visit the St Eval Karting Track with karts for all ages. For the days where the sun is reluctant to shine why not visit Newquay Zoo or the Newquay Waterworld Fun Pool which it opposite. All of these attractions are within a short travel distance by car. For the golfers amongst you then Trevose Golf Club is less than three miles away. Overlooking Constantine Bay this links course offers you a unique challenge as the Atlantic Waves crash in ahead of you. The friendly reception staff at Atlantic Bays will be happy to advise you on the best attractions to visit – whatever the weather – and may even have a number of discounts available when booked through the site!
There are also a number of FREE activities to visit whilst staying. These include;
- Kernow Chocolate
- Padstow Lifeboat – Every Wednesday evening throughout the year at 6pm, visitors are invited into the lifeboat house to watch the weekly training exercise which includes a launch.
Check the weather for Padstow.
